Call for experts No.2 10/11/2021

The Italian Center for Research on Risk Reduction CI3R is launching a call for 2 experts in risk and crisis communication in civil protection to compile the second thematic paper of ROADMAP, titled “Good practices of risk and crisis management’s communication”.

The ROADMAP project has the main objective to establish a European “Doctrine on disaster risk and crisis management”, funded on the mutual cooperation between scientific communities and DRM authorities. The doctrine, that is intended as “a shared understanding of disaster management between decision-makers and scientific actors”, will be based on selected experiences, good practices and implemented solutions in EU Member States. Three thematic papers will be prepared on relevant themes in the DRM field. The selection of topics for the thematic papers and their critical review is achieved through synergic interaction with a suitably established Advisory Group (AG), formed by experts both on science and decision making in DRM.

For more information on ROADMAP visit the project website https://roadmap.ci3r.it/

The scope of the second paper, with provisional title “Good practices of risk and crisis management’s communication”, is to map and evaluate good practices to help policy makers and risk/crisis mangers to communicate better with their audiences, taking into account natural and man-made crises and disasters. In addition, the paper will study how the communication among the different professional actors in risk and crisis management works in order to uncover good practices, since communication is the key for improved coordination.

The experts are expected to, first, identify communication challenges according to certain categories (political, socio-economic, technological etc.), then to identify crises and disasters where it is possible to detect good practices in the risk management as well as in the crisis management , finally to produce a meaningful appraisal of good practices, especially relevant for risk and crisis managers at EU and national level.

The work will start as soon as the positions are filled and is expected to be finalized by end of March 2022. Kick-off and periodical coordination meetings with editors are planned.

The remuneration for such work is 4150 Euros (gross of deductions payable by the employee and tax charges – payable by CI3R)

The deadline for application to the call is 9 January 2022, 12:00 CEST.
